Man Accused of Killing Ex-wife and Her Lover in Cold-blooded Plan as Daughter Waited in Car: Authorities
The New York man accused of killing his ex-wife and her lover while his 15-year-old daughter sat in the car outside is said to have plotted the crimes in “excruciating detail” before brutally shooting them both.
Daniel Coppola, 50, is suspected of entering his ex-wife Kelly Coppola’s Long Island house and shooting her and her lover, Kenneth Pohlman, on August 28, according to a statement released by the Suffolk County Police Department.
authorities rushed to the residence after a 911 caller reported that a 15-year-old girl had left the Saint James home with her father “without her mother’s knowledge,” according to authorities.
According to the department, Kelly and Pohlman were both fatally shot inside. Daniel was ultimately charged with two counts of murder.

Daniel pled not guilty to the charges during his arraignment on Friday, August 30.
The publications all reported on claimed details given by prosecutors at the hearing. All three publications report that officials discovered a note written by Daniel in which he planned the murders.
The memo allegedly provided “excruciating detail,” according to authorities.
“I am of sound mind and know exactly what I am going to do,” Coppola wrote, according to the newspaper.
According to NBC New York and CBS, Suffolk County police believe Coppola put his daughter in the car before to the murders.
“He reached out to her and told her to leave the house,” Detective Lieutenant Kevin Beyrer told NBC. “He then went into the house and committed these murders.”
Members of Pohlman’s family attended Coppola’s hearing, during which he pled not guilty. Following the incident, the victim’s family addressed the media.
“They were soulmates,” Pohlman’s father told CBS. “He brought out the best in her, and she in turn brought out the best in him. They got a second opportunity. My son lost his wife seventeen years ago.”
According to PEOPLE, Pohlman is a father of three.
