Brooklyn Subway SHOOTING LEAVES 47-YEAR-OLD DEAD, Authorities Search for Suspect

OCEAN HILL, Brooklyn – Police in Brooklyn are looking for a suspect in the fatal shooting of a 47-year-old man inside a subway station.

The incident occurred shortly before 11:15 p.m. at the Rockaway Avenue stop in Ocean Hill.

The deceased, later named Freddie Weston, was shot on the station’s mezzanine level, near the Metrocard machines.

An MTA employee in the booth heard a gunshot and hurried out to find the man shot in the head.

He was taken to Brookdale University Hospital and pronounced dead.

The person fled, and authorities did not immediately determine a motive, thus no arrests were made.

Police expanded the crime scene investigation from the subway station to the street in search of evidence.

According to NYC Transit President Demetrius Crichlow, subway stations now have cameras, as do half of the subway trains, and it is only a matter of time before they have an image of the suspect.

Officials believe the shooting was the eighth homicide in the subway system this year.
