Long Island Man Charged After Human Remains Found in Suitcase: Suffolk Police
NEW YORK – A Long Island man was detained on Friday for allegedly concealing a human corpse, according to the Suffolk County Police Department.
Ronald Schroeder, 31, is thought to be connected to the human remains discovered in a suitcase in a wooded area near a building in Huntington, Long Island, on Tuesday afternoon.
On Thursday, the victim was named as Seikeya Jones, age 31. Authorities believe Jones was homeless.
Police reported that Schroeder, a Huntington resident, was detained at 1 Pennsylvania Plaza at 1:55 p.m.
Schroeder faces the following charges:
- Concealing a body
- Having an active bench warrant.
- Criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree.
The suspect is being held overnight at the third precinct and is set to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Saturday, police said.
