ONE DEAD, THREE INJURED in Queens Basement Fire; Firefighter Also Hurt, Authorities Say
QUEENS, N.Y. – According to the authorities, a fire that occurred in a basement in Queens on Thursday evening resulted in the death of a 72-year-old man and injured three civilians. Further injuries were sustained by a firefighter from the FDNY.
In the vicinity of 5:14 p.m., fire units responded to a 911 call that was placed at 94-18 132nd Street. Multiple people inside a residential residence were hurt after a fire broke out in the basement of the building, according to the authorities.
A video that was uploaded to Citizen indicated that inhabitants of the area were outdoors while fire units were on the scene. The video also showed a fire vehicle with flashing lights, an ambulance, and other firefighters. Officials stated that thirty minutes after the flames began to erupt, twelve fire units, which included sixty personnel of the FDNY, were able to contain the fire.
According to Pix11, The victim, who was 72 years old, has not been identified.
It is the responsibility of the Fire Marshal to identify what caused the fire.
